Recommended Care

Congratulations, you've bought it.... Now what?

Non-Food Items

Hooks, Mushrooms & Rings etc

These arrive with a light coat of parafiin wax on them.

The oils from your hands will build up and create a protective coating over time. An occasional light coat of any wax of your choice followed by a gentle buffing with a cotton rag helps increase the protection.

If rust appears, throughly remove the rust with a wire brush or wire wool, and heat in the oven on a lined tray at 200°C for 10 minutes. Remove carefully and apply any oil or wax of your choice and leave to cool completely.

Food Items

Cheese Tools and BBQ tools etc.

These items arrive coated with a mineral oil and either beeswax or soywax cream, depending on whether a vegan finish was necessary.

After each use, it is best to wipe these clean by hand, immediately dry, and re-apply a light coat of food safe oil or wax.

Please do not leave these pieces to soak in water, and please do not put in the dishwasher.

Painted Items

Insects and Fatball Feeders etc.

These items arrive coated with an etch primer and black satin spray paint finish.

We recommend not spraying over the top of rust as it appears as this just covers the issue instead of treating it.

Using a wire brush, carefully remove the rust from the affected area before covering with Rustoleum paint in your chosen colour.
